In her own words

A Journey Shaped by Faith, Understanding and Service

Long before I became a qualified counsellor, I was often the person others came to when they needed someone to talk to.

Listening, supporting and helping people through difficult moments came naturally to me. I saw how much it mattered for someone to feel heard without judgment, and over time, I knew I wanted to turn that calling into professional work.

But my journey into counselling is also deeply connected to my own story.

I embraced Islam 35 years ago, at a time when there were very few reverts around me in Sydney. It was a beautiful beginning, Alhamdulillah, but it also came with challenges.

There were moments of loneliness. There were difficult conversations with family members who did not understand my decision. I wanted to respond with patience, kindness and wisdom, but I often wished I had someone to speak to who understood both the emotional reality of what I was experiencing and the faith I was trying to grow in.

I remember needing the kind of support that was difficult to find at the time.

Perhaps that is why this work means so much to me today.

Throughout my own journey, I began supporting other reverts who were searching for guidance, understanding and a sense of belonging. For many years, I have taught revert classes, helping women learn the foundations of Islam, understand the Qur’an and navigate the changes that can come with embracing a new faith.

Those experiences taught me that sometimes people do not need to be judged, rushed or told simply to be stronger. Sometimes they need to be heard.

They need a safe space to speak honestly about what they are carrying. They need compassionate support that understands their emotional wellbeing without asking them to separate it from their faith.

That understanding eventually led me to become a qualified counsellor.

Today, I support women, couples and families through some of the most difficult and personal seasons of their lives. My approach is shaped not only by professional training, but by decades of lived experience, community service and a deep understanding of how faith, family, culture and emotional wellbeing can intersect.

My hope is to offer others something I once wished for myself, a space where they can feel heard, understood and supported while moving forward with greater clarity, confidence and hope, InShaAllah.

Every woman deserves to be truly heard and supported, without being asked to choose between her wellbeing and her faith.
